DR. CHRIS CARRIER (CAMPBELL) Dr. Chris Carrier went to be with her Lord on October 17, 2003 after a heroic battle with cancer. Predeceased by her father George, she is survived by her husband Bill Campbell of Dugald, MB; her mother Betty of Winnipeg; brothers George and Bill and their families of Winnipeg. After obtaining her M.Sc. in 1979, Chris turned to her first love of medicine and helping others, receiving her training at the University of Manitoba in 1982. Starting her practice at the Tuxedo Medical Clinic, Chris later practiced at the Hope Centre Clinic, and found time in her life to teach at the Providence Seminary with numerous speaking engagements throughout Manitoba, particularly enjoying her teaching time with medical students at the Health Sciences Medical College. When Chris allowed herself free time, she enjoyed cross country skiing, snowshoing, camping with Bill and their dogs. In later years her skill would show with model building and needlework. In her younger years Chris was an accomplished musician, playing cello and violin and had appeared in musicals. Throughout her life Chris shared with all and supported her church. She shone most brightly when she herself was weak. Friends may call to pay their respects at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., Wednesday, October 22 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Service will be held at Grant Memorial Baptist Church, 877 Wilkes Ave. on Thursday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Grant Richison presiding. Interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery, Dugald Rd. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Union Gospel Mission, The Crisis Pregnancy Centre or CancerCare Manitoba. Special thanks to Dr. John Foerster and the nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Cancer Care Unit. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
