CECIL HENRY GREEN Peacefully, at the Selkirk General Hospital, October 17, 2003, Cecil Green passed away at the age of 91 years, 8 months. He was predeceased by a daughter Merle, in 1947; and by his wife Brenda, in 1999. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Les; and by four sisters, Dora McKenzie, Elizabeth Gamble, Mabel Bullard and Evelyn Linaker; as well as several siblings who died in childhood. Cecil was born at Neelin, MB, February 13, 1912, the second son of Henry and Ethel Green. He grew up and farmed there where he met and married the love of his life, Brenda Danley. They farmed in the Belmont area until 1956 when he and his family moved to Selkirk. At Selkirk he worked with Lakeland Dairies, Jenkinsons Tom Boy store, and the Manitoba Rolling Mills, retiring in 1977. In 1988 he and Brenda moved to Brandon, but returned to Selkirk in 1995. Cecil enjoyed hard work and the companionship of his fellow workers, especially at the Steel Mill. He was an active member of Bethel Chapel, Selkirk, and participated in the construction of the new church in 1978. For a number of years he delivered Meals on Wheels. He was fond of telling stories of his early days, the days of the steam tractor and the model "T" Ford. He enjoyed travelling, and trips to the west coast, and to Chicago and Washington were highlights. He also loved his drives along the River Road and to the Half Moon restaurant in Lockport. His favourite pastime was listening to old time music and playing crokinole. He often entertained people with his own guitar and accordion playing, and enjoyed singsongs with friends. Cecil and Brenda also spent many happy times at their cottage at Manhattan Beach, on Pelican Lake. Cecil is lovingly remembered by his son Kenneth (Babe Luna) one sister-in-law, Violet Green; and by several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge the care provided by Dr. Fuchs and the medical staff of the Selkirk & District General Hospital, during dads latest illness, as well as the support of home care services over the past five years. Viewing and prayers are scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, at 7.00 p.m., and a service of remembrance Wednesday, October 22, at 2.00 p.m. in Bethel Chapel, 200 Main St., Selkirk, MB. Pallbearers will be Lorne Green, Allan Danley, Barry Danley, Michael Danley, Albert Seib, and Russ Luining. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cecils memory may be made to Gideons International in Canada, or a charity of your choice. Rock Fontaine, Funeral Director in care of arrangements. Ph. 223-2576
