RUBY FLORENCE HARRISON (nee GOLDSMITH) 1917 - 2003 Peacefully, on Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Concordia Hospital, Ruby passed away at 86 years. She is survived by her devoted husband Martin of 62 years; her daughters, Carol (Pat Hughes), Betty (Doug Broadhurst) and her son Garth (Margaret) her nine grandchildren, Dan Hughes (Angie), Michael Hughes (Lisa), Tracy Hughes (fiance Rob), Vivian Broadhurst, Richard Broadhurst (Linda), Valerie Broadhurst, Miles Broadhurst, Marc Harrison (Audrey) and Krista Harrison; her five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Bonnie, Michael, Emma and Sydney; niece Beth; great-neice Calista; sisters-in-law, Donna Shillington, Stella Harrison and Joy Fauth. She was predeceased by her only sister Calista Spencer in 1959; and her lovely granddaughter Bonnie Hughes in 1991; her three brothers-in-law, Earl Harrison, Wally Shillington and Allan Harrison. Her life was devoted to caring for her family and some of her happiest moments were fishing and camping with Marty and the kids. She loved to sing and play the guitar and as a young woman, often performed at local gatherings. Mom enjoyed preparing dinners and family and friends were always welcomed. Our Lord blessed her with a long, healthy life and it is our prayer that she is united now with her loved ones. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2003, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) with a viewing one hour prior to the service. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of Canada.
