HENRY EDWARD (HARRY) HURLEY February 20, 1915 - October 19, 2003 On October 19, 2003, Harry passed away peacefully at Golden West Centennial Lodge with family by his side. Survived by his children, Arlene (Garth) Sutton and Terry (Susan) Hurley; grandchildren, Sean (Brenda) Sutton, Erinn (Grant) Kaun, Daniel (Kimberley Martin) Hurley, Colleen Hurley; and six great-grandchildren; sister Doris Jones, and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Myrtle in 1983, his parents, brother and five sisters. Harry was the youngest son of Edward and Sarah Hurley born on February 20, 1915, in Chater, MB. Harry worked as a farmer and truck driver before serving in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. In 1942, he married Myrtle Lorraine Smith in Brandon. After they moved to Selkirk, Harry worked as head dairyman at Selkirk Mental Hospital and as custodian with Selkirk School Board. He then spent 30 years as a steelworker at Manitoba Rolling Mills until his retirement in 1982. Dad had many passions in life. He loved his family, his pets, his home in Selkirk and his flower garden. He was an avid cribbage player and champion. He enjoyed long, leisurely walks and the company of good friends. He was a lifetime member of the No. 42 Royal Canadian Legion in Selkirk. After moving to Winnipeg in 1998, he spent the past four years at Golden West Centennial Lodge in St. James. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden West for the kindness, support and special attention they gave to Dad. It will never be forgotten. A celebration of Harrys life will be held on Monday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., Winnipeg. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salvation Army Golden West Centennial Lodge.
