ELEANOR JOYCE McFARLAND Joyce McFarland passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2003. She was born June 3, 1919 at Brumlie, MB. Joyce will be missed by her sisters, Isabel Gwynne and Alice McFaddin and by her nieces and nephews, Isabel Cain (Bob), Michael Gwynne, Jo-Anne Hordo (Randy), Elaine Anderson (Blair), Cathy Beynon (Randy), Gerry McFaddin (Denise), Paul Gwynne (Marcy), and Lorraine Bellikka (Jerry) as well as her fourteen great nieces and nephews and two great-great nephews. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Maurice McFaddin and Alex Gwynne. Joyce graduated from Brandon Normal School in 1940 and obtained her B.A. and M. Ed. from the University of Toronto. She was a dedicated teacher who taught in schools across Canada as well as Yorkshire, England. She retired from teaching in 1978. Joyce loved to travel and took many trips throughout North America and abroad. She was a member of the University Womens Club of Winnipeg and Westworth United Church. She enjoyed life and all it had to offer, be it books, bridge, art, music, investing, ballet and flea market treasures. What she loved most was her family and friends and the times they spent together. At family gatherings Joyce always had a story to tell and she was a formidable Trivial Pursuit opponent. Her memory and her spirit will remain with us always. At Joyces request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wildewood Club, 761 North Dr., Fort Garry.
