COLLEEN YEWISH (nee COURCHENE) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother and nana, Colleen Mary Yewish, on October 20, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family was at her side. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Ron (Candace), Rob (Donna) daughter Patti (Willy) grandchildren, Sarah, Joel and Tammy; sisters, Dorothy Gulle (John) and Doreen Marchuk (Gordon) and numerous nieces, nephew and cousins. Colleen was born in St. Norbert on February 25, 1940. She was born the third of eight children born to Victor and Catherine Courchene. Colleen was predeceased by both of her parents and five of her sisters. Mom graduated Nursing from Red River College in 1978, and was a giving and caring nurse all her life. In her life she worked at the Vancouver General Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, Seven Oaks Hospital and the last 25 years at Luther Home. Moms most enjoyable moments were camping at Gull Lake and Selkirk Park with her grandchildren and family. Every year you could find mom out at the Fringe Festival with family in tow. She loved travelling and could out cook everyone in the family. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Special thanks to Patti, Willy, Tammy, Dorothy and Doreen for all their care and attention to mom in her time of need. The family also wishes to send special acknowledgement and thanks to the care provided by Dr. Loiselle and the very caring staff of the Palliative Care Ward at the St. Boniface Hospital. Viewing and prayers will be held on Friday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m. also at Cropo Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at St. Norbert Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the St. Norbert Parish Hall. Pallbearers are to be John and James Gulle, Gordon, Darcy, Darrell and Jason Marchuk. Honorary pallbearer, Joel Yewish. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba. Your pain and suffering now is all gone, God needed an angel and you went along. In Heavens house now you reside, To always look down on us and never leave our side. Mom not a day goes by that I don't think of you. You were my best friend. You were way to young! You would be proud of all your grandchildren and can you believe you have 6 great-grandchildren!! I see you in all of them. I miss you every day.. Some more then others. I hope your free and happy as you deserve it. Until we met again I will continue to keep you close.
