Alberts memory will be cherished by his wife Ruth; children, Darlene (John), Terry (Evelyne), Lois (Brian) grandchildren, Kevin (Maria), Douglas (Megan), Rachell (Dwayne), Yuri (Rachael), Matthew, Kathleen, Andrew; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Teya and Rebecca. He is survived by sister Eileen Heasman (Jack) brothers, Vernon, Cliff, Durwin; sister-in-law Doreen Lewis and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents Stanley and Laura; brother Donald; sisters-in-law, Gladys and Chris; brothers-in-law, Ray and Bill. Albert was born in 1918 in Winnipeg. He served overseas with the 101 St. Battery in the Second World War. Returning to Canada, he married Ruth Geddes in 1946 and they enjoyed 57 years together. Their first home was in Deloraine. He later moved to Boissevain where he held several jobs before joining Canada Customs. The family was transferred to The Peace Gardens, Emerson and Regina where he retired in 1983. While in Emerson and Regina, he enjoyed being President of the Legion, as well as curling and golf. Retirement gave him the opportunity to travel and enjoy winters in Hawaii. In 1987 he moved back to Winnipeg to be close to family. Albert was a warm, quiet man who struggled with many health issues without a complaint. He was always there for his family and he will be greatly missed, but we know he is at peace now. At Alberts request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
