EDWARD CLARENCE HALHEAD The family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Edward Clarence Halhead "Ted" on October 23, 2003. Ted was born in Glenboro, MB to Ida and Walter Halhead on February 14, 1923. He was the eldest of four children, two brothers, Jack and Jimmy, both deceased, and a sister, Maisie. Teds family ran a number of hotels during his years of growing up. The hotels were located in the towns of Pipestone, Reston, and Carman. Ted served overseas in Continental Europe, the United Kingdom, and Holland with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals from 1942 to 1946. Ted always told the story that he was in France for "D+10". He was most proud of being part of the troops that liberated Holland, and he was thrilled to join the reunion of troops in Holland in 1995. Ted married Rita (nee Messner) in 1948, and they had four children, Wayne (deceased 1995), Keith (Debbie), Joe (Beth), and Joyce Anne. Ted was a long time employee of the Manitoba Liquor Commission and retired in 1988. He kept in touch with many of his friends from work. Ted was a proud grandpa and friend to his beloved grandsons, Michael and Jeffrey. Ted enjoyed many happy years on Autumnwood Drive, and was very proud to share his home and family. His family and friends will always remember how much he enjoyed a cup of coffee and a good chat. We will all miss you, Ted, as a husband, brother, father, grandpa, neighbour, and friend. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27 at St. Bernadettes Church, 620 Cottonwood Rd., Windsor Park. Flowers are kindly declined, and the family would appreciate donations be made to the Palliative Care Endowment Fund c/o St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, D1003-409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg R2H 9Z9 in Teds name.
