RHODA MAY (GIBBS) SMALL December 28, 1908- October 23, 2003 Peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2003, Rhoda, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 94 years. Rhoda was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, David. She is survived by son Jim (Shaaron) Small; daughter Moira (George) Finefrock; grandchildren, Brant, Melinda, Sarah and David. Born December 28, 1908 in Winnipeg, MB, Rhoda received her education in Hazelridge, MB after spending her first few elementary school years in England. She attended Wesley College, Normal School and the University of Manitoba. Rhodas professional career began as a teacher at Gunton Consolidated School. In Rossmere, she taught in a one-room school with 10 pupils placed in Grades one through nine. Rhoda was a teaching principal at the high school level in Hazelridge and Lindal. Rhoda enjoyed playing piano, reading, writing poetry, travelling and visiting with friends and family. She always welcomed visitors with a cup of tea and a chat. Our family extends very warm thanks to Rhodas friends and the staff at Pembina Place Mennonite Care Home whose kindness brought happiness to many of Rhodas days. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29 at All Saints Anglican Church (Osborne and Broadway) with reception to follow.
