Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLIVE FERN WRIGHT 1911 - 2003 Olive Fern Wright passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at the Maples Personal Care Home at the age of 92. Olive was born August 3, 1911, in Wellwood, MB. She lived most of her life in Benito and Winnipeg. She was the daughter of Neil David Wright and Minnie Elisa (Hutchinson) Wright. Olive was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Harold, Reta, Edna, Leslie, and Leola. She is survived by sister Hazel Harvey; sisters-in-law Freda Wright and Mabel Wright, and 40 nieces and nephews. Olive went to school in Benito. After graduating from high school she took three years of home economics at University in Winnipeg. She then came home to help on the family farm. She worked at home until her mother and sister Edna moved to Swan River. Olive moved to Winnipeg and became a nurses aid at Grace Hospital. She retired at the age of 65 in 1976 in one of the last years in which employees were required to retire at that age. Olive became a busy volunteer at Young and Westminster United Churches in the school lunch program for primary grades, Mothers Morning Off, and the womens group until sometime in her eighties. Olive always found time to help others. She was the glue that held the extended family together across distances and generations. She enjoyed playing with children such as her nieces and nephews. Olive also found time to enjoy bowling, attending concerts, plays, ballet, and other cultural events. Funeral services will be held at Westminster United Church on Monday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. (Please use the chapel entrance at 745 Westminster Avenue). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10, Mezzanine, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
