Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLEN FRIESEN (nee PETERS) After a brief illness, Ellen Friesen passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at the St. Boniface General Hospital, at the age of 73 years. Ellen was predeceased by her husband John Friesen and sister Rose. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Carol (Bob) Mulroy and Tammy Keam. Grandchildren, Jillian, Daniel, Michael, Melissa and Estella. Siblings, Ben (Helen), Evelyn, Vi, Norman (Shirl), Leonard and Shirley (John). Ellen was one of a kind, she was born in Steinbach in 1930 and married John as "soon as beet season was over" at the age of 19. She will be remembered as one of the greatest bakers of all time and was forever taking requests for her cookies, pies, squares and perogies. When she wasnt busy baking, she was watching her soaps and knitting one of thousands of washcloths she donated to the self-help in Steinbach. At last count, she had knit over four thousand of them. Ellen was a considerate and caring individual who loved her family and friends deeply. She has left us all many happy memories to cherish and will truly be missed. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Rd. Viewing will be held one-half hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bob Mulroy, Daniel Mulroy, Michael Mulroy, Leonard Peters, Rufus Doerksen and Sheldon Peters. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
