KNOX B. FOSTER Knox passed away peacefully on Thursday October 24, 2003 surrounded by friends, after a lengthy illness. Knox was born in Winnipeg in 1939 to Jessie and J. Knox Foster. He lived in Winnipeg all his life. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960 and his Law degree in 1964 from the University of Manitoba. On his call to the Bar in 1964, he joined Aikins, MacAulay where he practiced law for all 38 years of his distinguished career. He was appointed Queens Counsel in 1979. He served his profession in many capacities including: President of the Law Society of Manitoba, as a Life Bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba, as a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and as a founding member of the Advocates Society of Manitoba. He was a complex man with principles, integrity, and dignity who valued family and friends. He loved his cottage and his dogs, the arts and culture, sports and crossword puzzles, politics and current affairs. He could make a connection with anybody and have a conversation about anything. He is survived by his sister, Myrna (Donald Webster) of Calgary; nieces, Elizabeth, Kathryn (Phil Johnson) nephews, Donald (Shelley), Geoffrey (Peg) grandnieces and nephews, Kendall, Jocelyn, Donald, Sydney, Benjamin, Megan. Special thanks to Barb Hues, Dr. Don Houston, and all the wonderful nurses on the 3rd floor of CancerCare. Much gratitude to Todd and Lori Campbell and Rod and Bonnie Stephenson for their love and support. A memorial service will be held at the Garry Memorial Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, on Wednesday, October 29, at 1:00 p.m. with a private family interment at a later date.
