GLADYS BEAVIS It is with great sadness that we announce Gladys Beavis passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, October 26, 2003 at the age of 78, after a long bout with cancer. Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband Frank; and her brother Dick Little. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Walter) Mansfield of Winnipeg, Diane (Henry) Nyp of Sarnia, ON; sister Marion Warren of Edmonton, AB; brothers, Harvey (Louise) Little and Ray (Dorothy) Little, both of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Alice Beavis of Calgary, AB; and many nieces and nephews. Born and educated in Winnipeg, Gladys was employed by the T. Eaton Co. Store and Mail-Order for a number of years. In 1943, Gladys married Frank Beavis, the love of her life, and they resided in St. Vital on Handyside Avenue for many years. Mom was an avid swimmer at the St. Vital Y for some 25 years, where she made a number of long lasting friends. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, was a wonderful homemaker and her home was always open to family and friends. A long-standing member of St. Marks Anglican Church, she was an active participant in all parish activities. Gladys was always proudly independent and did things her own way right to the end. She will be remembered and sadly missed as a loving, caring wife and mother, always prepared to go the extra mile for her family and friends. We were honoured to have her love! Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
