Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAINA KATARINA HUHTALA (nee MAKI) Laina Huhtala was called to Glory on Sunday, October 26, 2003. Laina was born on September 22, 1906 in a simpler place and time on the family farm in New Finland, SK to John and Liisa Maki, the seventh of 13 children. She was predeceased by all but a brother, Albert (Betty) Maki of Saskatchewan. Left to mourn her loss, celebrate her life and cherish her memory are one son and two daughters, Jack (Jeanette) Huhtala, Lona Woods, Diane (Allan) Handford and their families of nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a special niece, Wilma Polvi of Saskatchewan. Pallbearers will be her sons, Jack Huhtala, Allan Handford, John Woods, Gerald Huhtala, Michael Huhtala and Curtis Handford. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Beautiful Saviour Lutheran Church, 1541 St. Marys Rd., with viewing one hour prior to the service.
