NINA MARIA KRIEWALD (nee HOLMSTROM) Peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2003, Nina Maria passed away at West Park Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. She is survived by her son Harold Lloyd and his wife Mary, grandsons Benjamin Harold (Kim) and Erik Joseph, and great-granddaughter Hannah Ashleigh. She is survived by her two sisters Elsa Schrader and Inez Brundage. She was predeceased by her husband Harold Sr. and her brothers Hjalmer, Allan, Melvin, Axel and Carl. Nina Maria was born in Foam Lake, SK on January 1, 1913. She loved to learn and became a school teacher. She passed her love of learning to her students in many Saskatchewan one-room school houses. She married Harold Kriewald on October 24, 1937. Together as a team they operated several general hardware stores until they moved to Moose Jaw, SK. Nina Maria was very involved in the community and was a proud member of the Sweet Adelines and Daughters of the Nile. Nina Maria chaired and headed numerous committees whose work helps many others. Nina Maria, Harold, and Harold Jr. moved to Winnipeg in 1966 and she remained there until her passing. Once again, Nina Maria was active in the community and the St. Andrews United Church in River Heights. Nina Maria was famous for her hospitality and kindness and while travelling the world with Harold Sr. made many friends. Nina Maria love to play bridge with the Tuxedo Ladies and always looked forward to any bridge event. Nina Maria will always be remembered for her classic style and grace and her generosity for others. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of West Park Manor for their loving and compassionate care of Nina Maria during her stay with them. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31 at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, in Winnipeg. A reception at Thomson Funeral Chapels will follow the service. Nina Maria will be laid to rest with her husband in Marchwell, SK on Saturday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
