Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEANETTE CHRISTINA TAYLOR (nee CLARK) August 3, l9ll - October 25, 2003 Jeanette passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital at the young age of 92 years. Predeceased by her husband, Harper Marshall in l993; her sisters, Isabel, Eileen and brothers, Thomas Ladyman, and William James Moffett Clark. Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Audrey McWilliams (Bob) her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer (Richard) and Shaun (Brandy) and her loving sister, Elinor Price. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Jeanette was born August 3, l9ll in Russell, MB. She was a great story teller and would often tell of her adventures as a young child in Russell. The death of their father, John Ladyman Clark (as a result of a heart attack) on December l6, l9l8 while stationed in Alexandria, Egypt during the First World War had the most profound effect on the entire family. Their mother was left as a young widow with four small children to raise. In l923 the family moved to Winnipeg. Jeanette attended Gladstone, Laura Secord, Gordon Bell and Kelvin High School. Upon finishing school, she enrolled at the Dominion Business College, earning her Secretarial Diploma. Jeanette held various secretarial positions with companies such as the Manitoba Liquor Commission, Central Mortgage and Housing, and latterly with Community Hotels. Jeanette and Harper married June 30, l945 and had 48 happy years together. Throughout her life, Mother was extremely active in her church, social organizations and community. She became involved with the Womens Institute in Gimli and at one time served as President and was also instrumental in establishing a regional library in the Interlake. With her retirement from Community Hotels, Jeanette threw herself whole heartedly into volunteerism. Having experienced Harpers battle with cancer, and later battling her own cancers and overcoming these struggles, volunteering in the Palliative Ward at Riverview was undoubtedly her calling. Always wanting to be a nurse, she excelled at her work. She was a dedicated, loyal volunteer having spent 20 years at Riverview. Jeanette was involved with Manitoba Sports Wheelchair Bowlers for 10 years. One of her highlights this year was the presentation of the Rick Hanson Volunteer Award by Rick Hanson himself. In recogntion to her outstanding contribution to her community, Jeanette received the Queens Medal, an award presented in commemoration of the monarchs 50th year on the throne in December of 2002. Although volunteering remained an integral part of her life, she was most proud of her family and her many treasured friendships. She bowled with the Riverview Bowling League, and she and Harper had belonged to the Wildewood Club for many years. Mom...you were a wonderful mother and devoted grandmother to Jennifer and Shaun. We will always miss you, may you rest peacefully. Services will take place at Windsor Park United Church, l062 Autumnwood Dr., on Friday, October 31 at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Donations can be made to a charity of ones choice. Our family would like to extend our gratitude and expressions of thanks to St. Boniface Emergency staff and the 8th Floor Palliative Ward.
