Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER RICHARD WUTKE With his family by his side, Walter Richard Wutke entered into rest on Saturday, October 25, 2003, at the Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, 22 days. Walter was born on December 3, 1921, to William and Katherine Wutke at the Wutke homestead in the Maitland District. He was the youngest child of nine children. Walter was baptized on January 1, 1922, and confirmed on March 21, 1937, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tupper, MB. Walters faith was strong and served him well throughout his lifetime. On June 16, 1945, Walter married Lydia (nee Smith) at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tupper. They made their home at the Wutke homestead and farmed until the spring of 1986. Walter and Lydia built a new house in Plumas in 1992 and continued to reside at this residence. As a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Walter served in many of the offices of the congregation. He was also a trustee of the Maitland School. Walters main interest in life was farming, and during his retirement he still made many trips to the farm. Walters hobbies included fishing, hunting, curling, card playing and watching all sports on T.V. More recently, his favourite ambition was to take weekly trips to visit his two great-grandchildren. Walter was very proud of the family he was a big part of. Walter will always be remembered for his kindness, love and patience to family and friends. In their 58 years of marriage, Walter and Lydia were blessed with one child, Linda and son-in-law Garry Oswald; three grandchildren, Laura (Brent) Miller, Brent Oswald and Colleen Oswald (Jason) and two great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Hallie Miller. He is survived by his loving wife Lydia; his brother Edward (Pauline) Wutke; his sister Anne Mauthe; sister-in-law Florence Smith; and five godchildren, Harold Wutke, Judy Lafreniere, Bonnie Kushner, Debbie Fischer and Darlene Honig; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William and Katherine Wutke; brothers, Gustav (infancy), William (Dorothy) Wutke, Henry (Emilia) Wutke; and sisters, Emma Keim, Katie Taylor and Sophie (Adam) Wutke. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church, Plumas, MB, with Pastor Richard Klein officiating. Interment will follow in the Plumas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Smith, Leonard Kreutzer, Brent Smith, Mervin Smith, Raymond Walker, and Allan Wutke. Cross bearer will be Harold Wutke. Organist will be Lenora Buffi and everyone in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Plumas, MB R0J 1P0, or to a charity of ones choice. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all who provided great support and visited Walter during his hospital stay. Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements.
