Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOKKO JOHANN BROEK On October 27, 2003, Okko Broek passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lydia and his two sons, Andre of Brockville, ON and Bernhard (Diana) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Curtis, Adam, Eric and Azure Broek. He also leaves behind two brothers, Herman from Vancouver, BC and John (Giselle) from Anola, MB and also three sisters, Agnes (Ed) Hiller from Winnipeg, Bernadine (Walter) Mueller and Grace (Manfred) Rueckert from Beausejour, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret Broek and sisters, Janet, Hermine and Gretchen. Okko was born on January 6, 1924 in Leer, Ostfriesland, Germany. He was the eldest son in a family of nine. He wed his loving wife, Lydia in 1955 and they immigrated to Canada in 1956. They raised their two sons in Whitemouth, MB where they had resided for 30 years until they moved to Winnipeg in 1992. Dad loved music, he spent a couple of hours each day singing praises to Jesus. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang with a Hamburg, Germany choir. He was a loving and kind man, who liked to laugh, tease and joke. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakview Extendicare Centre for their care and compassion. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. October 30, at Victory Baptist Church, 3428 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Pastor Archie Dyck officiating.
