ROBERT EDWARD CHAMBERLAIN 1912-2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Edward Chamberlain on October 27, 2003 at Selkirk General Hospital. Bob was born June 24, 1912 to Edward and Annie Chamberlain. He lived the early years of his life in the St. Andrews area and moved to West Kildonan when he married Grace McMurdy in June 1940. Professionally, Bob was a skilled cabinet maker contractor who cherished his leisure time at the cottage he built at West Hawk Lake. In the winter much time was spent curling at West Kildonan Curling Club where he was secretary for many years and member of the Past Presidents Club. A life membership was awarded to him in 1988 for his years of work and dedication to the club. Bob contributed many years to community service. He belonged to West Kildonan and later East Kildonan Kiwanis Clubs. Achievements included Distinguished Lieutenant Governor Western Canada District, life membership Kiwanis International and 50 years of perfect attendance as of March 2003. He was a Board member of the Seven Oaks Museum, Bleak House and a founding member of McBeth House. He also represented West Kildonan on the City of Winnipeg Community Advisory Board - Jefferson Ward. A principled man grounded in reality he lived his life with integrity, purpose and commitment. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who believed in making a contribution to his community. Bob leaves to mourn his wife of 63 years Grace; daughter Roberta (Ken) granddaughter Kendra (Jordan) brothers, Don, Arthur (Louise), John (Dorothy), sisters Marjorie, Grace Pritchard, Lucy Van Mol, Mabel Gawne; sister-in-law Isabella Chamberlain and many nieces and nephews. His parents; brothers, William and Edmond and sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Agnes predeceased him. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Selkirk General Hospital who took exceptional care of Bob during his brief stay. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Martin-in-the Field Church, 160 Smithfield Ave. at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 31. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bobs memory to CancerCare Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
