LYNDA ANN MACKENZIE (nee PEARCE) May 29, 1946 - October 26, 2003 It is with great sorrow the family of Lynda MacKenzie announces her sudden passing, after a brief struggle with cancer, with her family by her side at the St. Boniface General Hospital. She was predeceased by her father Frank in 1978 and mother Mary in 1990. Lynda will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Kelly; son Jay and as much loved mother-in-law to John MacKay and Terri Thompson. Also left to mourn her passing are her sister Frances Wade of Victoria, BC and nephew Paul Jasper (Jennifer and daughters) of Vancouver, BC. Our mother will also be missed by an extended family of former in-laws who still loved her dearly. In particular, Lacey Sanders, Vicki Novak and Roy and Jennifer Bolin, whom all did so much to provide care and support. A special mention also goes to Isabel and Rod Thompson, whom not only gave everyone so much support, but also gave our Mom her last happy weekend at their cottage in Kenora. Lyndas greatest happiness in her life was being a mother to her children. In her earlier years as a single mother, she overcame many obstacles. Yet she always made sure to provide for her family, even if it meant sacrificing her own needs. She was always involved in every aspect of our lives; attending every hockey, soccer, baseball and dancing activity. While doing all of this, she also was a dedicated and hardworking professional in the banking industry for over 25 years. Starting at First City Trust as a teller, she worked her way up to various management positions, ending up at the Laurentien Bank on Portage Avenue, until the time of her illness. Her cheerful, patient and kind disposition made her many friends over the years with various co-workers, and loyal clients. In her spare time, Lynda loved gardening, reading and cooking elaborate meals for Sunday night dinners with the family. She was also extremely independent, delighting in receiving new tools for her tool box, and taking pleasure in doing all of her own home repairs. That was her relaxation. We could not go without mentioning her extreme love of dogs, in particular her own two, Emma and Oliver, whom she loved taking to the off-leash dog park. They gave her great comfort during her illness. Our Mom was so overwhelmed by all of the love, support and generosity of so many people in her time of need. A special thank you goes to Sherry Telfer and staff at the Laurentien Bank; her good friend Judy Henry, the MacKay family, Dr. Sutherland and staff at CancerCare Manitoba, and the wonderful nurses on GH5 at the Health Science Centre, and 6A West at the St. Boniface Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. An interment will follow the service. Flowers gratefully declined.
