DOROTHY REGAN Peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2003, Dorothy Regan passed away at The Maples Personal Care Home at the age of 95. Mum will be sadly missed by her son Ernie (Claudette) and daughter Maureen (Alan) grandchildren, Patti (John), Kevin (Pat), Jeffrey (Linda), Craig (Leanne) and Kent and great-grandchildren, Calvin, Sharla, Kira, Molly, Samara, Hannah and Troy. Mum was predeceased by her husband Ernie in 1958 and sister Agnes Matthews in 1971. She was born May 11, 1908, in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She came to Canada when she was 12 with her sister Agnes Matthews and brother-in-law Alexander. They resided in East Kildonan. Mum attended Prince Edward School and was one of eight students in high school at Lord Kitchener. Upon completion of a Comptometer Course at Business College, she worked at the Canadian National Railways. That is where she met Ernie, they married and lived in East Kildonan raising their family. After she was widowed, she entered the business world once again working at Dominion Bridge. She thoroughly enjoyed her position especially working with the engineers, calculating the steel for the Concert Hall. After her retirement, she moved to Gable Arms at 1590 Henderson Hwy. and resided there for 24 years. There she enjoyed her friends, bridge and activities in the Social Room where she was President for two years. She was a proud and active member of the Sons of Scotland, Lord Selkirk Camp #205. Also a member for many years of King Memorial Church, where she was married. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved being with family and friends. She had a strong and determined spirit with a great sense of humour. Many thanks to the Home Care girls that helped her at 1590, the Staff on 2West at the Maples Personal Care Home for their attention and excellent care. A memorial service in celebration of Mums life will be held on Friday, October 31 at Klassen Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Donald I. Wilson officiating. Flowers gratefully declined but donations for the children can be sent to Khartum Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9.
