SYBIL E. BENTHAM (nee SCOTT) 1917 - 2003 Peacefully at the Golden Links Lodge, on Thursday, October 30, 2003, Mrs. Sybil Bentham passed away at the age of 85. Sybil was a devoted mother and grandmother and leaves behind her daughter Donna Willstrop (Gary) sons, Tom (Carole) and Barry (Norma) grandchildren, Cherie Thomson (Ian), Kimberley and Rob Bentham, Brianne Johnston (Trevor) and Nicholas, Melissa and Keenan Bentham. She is also survived by sister-in-law Edwina Scott, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Sybil is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Robert, her parents Hugh and Hilda Scott, her twin sister Phyllis and brother Bob. Born on November 1, 1917, Sybil always held many special memories of her early years with friends and family in the Sturgeon Creek area of St. James. As a young girl she was very active in church and community. After completing a commercial art program along with a secretarial diploma, she spent her working life serving the needs of Manitoba artists at Frasers Art Supplies. Throughout her life Sybil enjoyed long-lasting close relationships with many friends and her regular bridge club get-togethers. She was affectionately known as "Auntie Sybil" to all the neighbourhood children. There are many fond, lasting memories of happy times with family and friends at the cottage Robert and Sybil built and lovingly cared for at Brereton Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. Sybil also enjoyed our many annual family camping trips across the country. Mom was deeply committed to her family. Her exceptional love and devotion as a wife, mother and grandmother was a source of our familys pride, strength and inspiration. Mom, although we all miss you dearly and wish that you could have stayed here with us longer, we know and believe the Lord stretched out His arms to welcome you Home. God has prepared a place for you in Heaven where you are now reunited with Dad. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the loving care and support provided at the Golden Links Lodge and previously the Rosewood Village. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Canada, N.108 North Pavilion, Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Rd.
