RICHARD (RICK) BOWEN It is with a deep sense of loss that the family announces the passing of Rick Bowen on October 31, 2003. Rick will be sadly missed by his wife Lee, son Kevin and wife Corry, and daughter Jennifer. He also leaves behind a sister Ann (Bill) of Ottawa, ON, brothers, Keith and Mickey (Sylvia) of Cornwall, ON, Robin (Maxine) of Fenelon Falls, ON; brother-in-law Allan (Rae) of Medicine Hat, AB; sister-in-law Pat (Gary) of Calgary, AB; many nieces and nephews and his many special friends across Canada and the US. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Irene; and sister-in-law Beverly. Born in Cornwall, ON, Rick left home when he was 18 to pursue his goal of working for a large corporation. He joined Kraft Foods in Toronto in 1961. Over the next 27 years his career with Kraft took him to Brantford, Medicine Hat, Calgary, Edmonton, and Saskatoon before settling in Winnipeg in 1980. Rick was quietly proud of his achievements with Kraft and was recognized throughout these years for his contributions and dedication. He spent the last 12 years enjoying a second career with Fishery Products International before retiring in January 2003. Rick approached his second career with enthusiasm and quickly became knowledgeable and passionate about the fish and seafood industry. March was a special month, which was traditionally spent vacationing at the Sea Chest in Florida where he had many lively discussions with his American friends. It was during these vacations that Rick and Lee celebrated their wedding anniversary. He was proud of his family and always looked forward to Sunday suppers and homecomings. Prayers will be held Monday, at 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Ave. The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers on D4 and MICU at the Health Sciences Centre.
