IDA OTTILIE GRUENER March 14, 1903 - October 30, 2003 On Thursday, October 30, 2003 at the Salem Home, Winkler, Ida Gruener (nee Rietze), age 100 years, went to her eternal rest. She was predeceased by husband Otto in 1967; sons-in-law Bill Wiebe in 1957; Menno Ketler in 1982; Hank Doell in 1988; and daughter-in-law Sharon Gruener in 1999; three sisters and ten brothers. She leaves to mourn her passing four daughters, Irene & Bill Swallow of Chase, B.C; Lorraine & Hugo Mantey of Winkler; Marie Doell of Winkler; Mildred & Bill Hildebrand of Winkler; two sons, Richard Gruener of Winnipeg; Don & Anita Gruener of Winnipeg; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren, one sister and two brothers. Viewing will be held Monday, November 3 at Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 4, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Winkler. Rev. Alex Klages officiating. Interment will follow at Winkler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Concordia Lutheran Seminary (Pastors Training), Edmonton, AB or to a charity of choice. Ida was a woman of strong faith. Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his names sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. The family wishes to thank the staff at Salem Home, Winkler for their care.
