MADELINE ANN STALKER (nee BEAMISH) Peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2003 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Madeline Ann Stalker, beloved wife of the late Robert Stalker, passed away at the age of 83 years with her family by her side. Ma deline will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Diane Gorman and her family, Lorelei (Wyatt) Buffington great-grandchildren, Ryan and Rachael and their family, Jason (Tracy) great-grandchildren, Megan and Eric,Jeffrey (Chri, Michael, Dianna (David) Calvin; son Robert Jr. (Charlottstina), Joanne (Michael) Norris; sister-in-law Mary Beamish, Gennie Stalker and Betty Stalker of Victoria, BC and brother-in-law Rowland Price of Whiterock BC. Mother was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert; infant son Douglas James; brothers, William and Frank; and sister Audrey. Born November 20, 1919 to Ewart and Florence Beamish of Winnipeg, Madeline held many special memories of her early years with family and friends in the Sturgeon Creek area of St. James. She and husband Robert settled in East Kildonan in 1946 where she remained in the family home until her death. Mother worked in the office of Merchants Consolidated Ltd. (food wholesaler) in her early years, stayed home to raise her children in her middle years and returned to work at Merchants after the children had left home. Madeline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. All of her children held a special place in her heart and in her home. It was also obvious to everyone that her greatest passion and the love of her life was her husband Robert. They were inseparable for over 60 years and enjoyed a wonderful life together. They golfed and curled at Rossmere Golf and Curling Club for over 30 years and enjoyed many wonderful vacations throughout Canada and the United States. There are also many fond, lasting memories of happy times with family and friends at the family cottage at Caddy Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park which they enjoyed for more than 40 years. They were a wonderful role model for their children and grandchildren. Throughout her life Madeline cherished long-lasting close relationships with many friends. She enjoyed her regular bridge club get-togethers and was known as the Crib Queen among family and friends, teaching the game to her children and grandchildren. She was also known for her excellent embroidery and petit-point. Madeline has been described by many friends as lady-like and refined with a cheerful disposition and keen sense of humour. Although intensely private in many ways, mother enjoyed meeting people and was a friend to many. The family extends its sincere thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital MICU unit for the dedicated, professional and compassionate care that they provided to mother during her nearly three weeks in intensive care. Also a special thank-you to Reverend Marc Whitehead for his pastoral support during many visits with mother and the family. Cremation has taken place, family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Madelines life on Thursday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Madelines memory to a charity of your choice. KLASSEN Funeral Chapel 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
