BERNICE WORTHINGTON Peacefully with her family by her side, on October 31, 2003, Bernice passed away after a short battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Joanne Harris (Paul) and their daughters, Wendy and Jackie; Brenda Sawatzky (Paul) and their daughters, Stephanie, Jill and Allie. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Tena Toffin, brother-in-law Mike Wasylciw; and many aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Bill; sister Josie; and brother Joe. Mom was born November 9, 1930, on a farm near the town of Kamsack, SK. She moved to Winnipeg as a young adult where she met and married Bill and raised her two daughters. Mom was a devoted grandmother to her five cherished granddaughters. She had a passion for gardening, cooking, and enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives. Her house was always a revolving door for her friends and relatives coming to stay. She enjoyed playing bingo with her bingo buddies, short jaunts to the U.S. with friends, and Wednesday Scrabble night with a neighbour. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 2nd and 4th floors of the Grace Hospital for their wonderful care. According to Moms wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
