MARJORIE E. DAWSON March 31, 1913 - October 30, 2003 On Thursday, October 30 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, Marjorie E. Dawson passed away after a brief illness following surgery. She is survived by her son Cliff (Sheila) and daughter Valerie Simmons, grandchildren, Wade (Pam) Simmons, Michael (Ann) Simmons, Terry Simmons and Amber (Warren) Graydon; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Bailey and Colby; and step great-grandchildren, James, Christie and George; brother-in-law Jack Dawson of Kelowna, BC and sister-in-law Angie Dawson of Winnipeg. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1943, her son-in-law Bob in 1964 and her mother Nan in 1971. Marjorie was born in Kent, England in 1913. With her mother, she immigrated to Canada as a young child. She grew up in Winnipeg and taught school until she married Stan in 1934. Following a stint with the T. Eaton Co. in the late 40s she secured employment with the Manitoba Telephone System, retiring in 1975 after 26 years of service. She was always extremely proud of the fact that she was the first woman to achieve management status at MTS. After retiring, Marjorie relocated to beautiful British Columbia where she reaquainted with her cousin Phyllis Gerrand and enjoyed 22 years living in Brentwood Bay and Sidney. In 2002 she returned to Winnipeg to reside with her daughter. Cremation has taken place and as per Marjories wishes no funeral will be held. Flowers are respectfully declined.
