OLAF SIGRIDUR "GRACE" HJALMARSSON The family of Grace Hjalmarsson (Beauchamp) announce with great sadness the passing of their mother, amma, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. Grace passed away on October 31, 2003 in Baldur, MB following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born April 16, 1932 to Numi and Sarah Hjalmarsson, she lived most of her formative years in the Interlake, and always thought of it as home. Grace taught school for almost 30 years. Each student was special, and many remained good friends and held special places in her heart. In 1956 she married Raymond Beauchamp. Soon after they moved to Baldur where Grace spent most of the rest of her life teaching and running the variety store. She spent several happy years teaching in Fisher Branch before retiring to Baldur. Grace filled her time playing with her grandchildren, playing the piano at the care home, and pursuing her love of writing with the Country Quills writing group. Many happy times were spent visiting her family and friends in Stonewall. Grace was predeceased by her parents, Numi and Sarah; brothers, Arman, John and Leo; by Raymond Beauchamp; brother-in-law Lloyd Steinthorson; as well as her children, David Bruce and Linda Joanne. Her passing is deeply mourned by her children, Doug (Karen) of Melita and Lee (Rick) of Killarney; as well as her grandchildren, Daniel, Katie, Sam, Ali, Jessica and Andrew. Her sisters-in-law who were more like sisters, Edith and Thelma; as well as her special cousin Nina and her family as well as their families whom she thought of as extra children. A celebration of Graces life will be held on Wednesday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Baldur United Church with Pastor Ted Januska officiating. Interment to follow in the Baldur Cemetery.
