ELISABETH (KLUMPER) SOLLEVELD After a short courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side, we sadly announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Friday, October 31, 2003, at the age of 60. Ellie is survived by her children, Tim (Alice), Rob (Rochelle), Lisa (Randy) and John Jr. Her grandchildren, Andrew, Stephanie, Christopher, Nicholas, Sara, Alyssa and Reagan; her brothers, Arnie, Ed (Norma), Tim (Gloria), and Bernard; and many nieces and nephews, who all held a special place in her heart. Ellie was born August 8, 1943 in Monster, Holland, and later immigrated to Canada on the S.S. Waterman in May of 1953. From there, she grew up in West Kildonan, until she married John in 1963, and devoted all her time to raising her children, volunteering many hours with the Winnipeg Jets "Hot Shot" club, and cultivating her amazing artistic talent. Mom also managed to graduate from Red River Community College with a diploma in Creative Communications while still raising a family, and later, she wrote a book. Mom was a favourite regular for breakfast at the Smittys restaurant on Henderson Highway. She loved her digital camera and took great pride in all the pictures she took of her grandchildren. Moms sense of humour was contagious and provided a great sense of comfort and security to all who knew her. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. MacMillan, Dr. Bow, Dr. Reubinger, Hong Wei Lui, and all the many nurses on GD-6 at the Health Sciences Centre for their wonderful support, care and compassion for Mom. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellies memory to CancerCare Manitoba. Interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery on Thursday, November 6 at 2:30 p.m. and memorial services celebrating Ellies life will be held on Friday, November 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the World Wide Church of God, 50 Barnes St. "To live with fear and not be afraid is the final test of maturity". "Your courage in the face of hardship is an inspiration to us all. You will remain in our hearts forever, you will be greatly missed. We will always love you."
