NELLIE SWATIUK (nee SOBIESKI) Peacefully on November 3, 2003, Nellie passed away at the Holy Family Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband Nick in 1977. She was also predeceased by her parents, John and Louise; brother Louis (Nellie) sister Jennie (Edward) and nephew Larry. Nellie was born in Winnipeg on January 18, 1910. Following school, she worked at the Hudsons Bay Company until her marriage to Nick in 1929. She devoted much of her life to lovingly care for her sister Gladys. Nellie was a very generous lady who enjoyed hosting family and friends for dinners. She always had a smile and an offer of a "little bite of something" for anyone who dropped by for a visit. Although she and Nick did not have any children of their own, she was thought of like a mother by many. Nellies love will be sadly missed by her sister Gladys; brother Stanley (Dorothy) and extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends. The family would like to extend many thanks to the nurses and staff of the Holy Family Nursing Home for the care and compassion they provided for Nellie over the last eight years. The funeral service of remembrance will be held on Friday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m. (visitation at 12:00 noon) at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Reverend Don McIntyre will officiate the service. Nellie will be laid to rest beside her husband Nick at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Benson, Judi Karpyn, Kevin Benson, Darin Benson, Jerry Kruk and John Schubert. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Benson, Ron Neumann and Terry Sobieski. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nellies memory to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba, 1060 Ellice Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3G 0C9. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
