Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) ALBERT CODE, B.A., C.A. (August 24, 1915 - November 5, 2003) Bill was promoted to glory on November 5, 2003, beloved husband for 63 years of Mervyn Joy Code (nee Mitchell). Father of Valerie Dopson (Norman), John Code (Jeannette) and Barbara Code (John Boddington). Grandfather of Kathryn Landry (Roger), Heather Meisner (Dwayne), Colleen Seel (Mark) and Great Grandson Carter also Grandfather of Valerie Goulton (Philip) and Jason Code residing in New Zealand. Bill was predeceased by his parents William and Charlotte, as well as his brother Kenneth who passed away in 1994. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Bill spent many happy summers at the family cabin on Coney Island in Kenora. He attended Daniel McIntyre High School, winning the Isbister Scholarship for highest scholastic achievement on multiple occasions. Bill obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1939, later returning to attain his C.A. designation in 1950. During his professional career, Bill held accounting positions with the Income Tax Department, The Bay and the Provincial Government before joining Trans Canada Airlines (later Air Canada) as a travelling auditor in 1955. While with Air Canada, he travelled the world for twenty years, his position affording him remarkable opportunities and tremendous satisfaction. Despite his world travels Bill always loved life in Winnipeg, the city that he was proud to call home for all but one year of his life. The original "do-it-yourself" fellow, Bill loved the 50 years he spent working on the family cabin at Matlock Beach - a cabin he built with care from recycled wood. The cabin grew as our family also expanded. Bill and Mervyn enjoyed a large circle of friends who regularly shared happy times at Matlock as well as dinners and evenings at the Codes first home on Polson Avenue and later on Lyndale Drive. Bill was a kind, generous and nurturing man who always placed the needs of his family and friends above all else. Our Husband, Father and Friend will be missed deeply, remembered fondly and loved forever. The Code family wishes to thank Sandy Bell, Resident Care Manager and the staff of Crocus 2, Misericordia Health Centre who cared for Dad over the past seven months. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Donations to the Salvation Army, 500-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8 would be appreciated. THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
