GWENDOLINE BROOKS 1913 - 2003 Gwendoline Brooks of Kelowna, BC, died peacefully, with family at her side on Saturday, November 1. Born in Roblin, MB, Gwendoline May, oldest daughter of Charlotte and Charles Briggs. In 1940, she married her beloved Nelson and had four children, Dale (Carol) of Kelowna, Brian (Martha) of Winnipeg, Maureen of Kelowna and Allan (Daryl) of Winnipeg. Following Nelsons untimely death in 1957, Gwen raised their young family alone, creating a beautiful environment in which homemaking was a fine art. She turned her unique eye to the smallest of details which will live on in the memory of all those who loved her. In 1977, she moved from her home in Winnipeg to be close to family in Kelowna. She took deep delight in nature, her lush, award-winning gardens, and in visiting with her children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived a very healthy life. This past April she celebrated her 90th birthday with a lavish and joyful party given in her honour, surrounded by family and friends from all over the continent. She will be interred beside Nelson in Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg on Wednesday, November 12. Funeral arrangements by Neil Bardal, phone 949-2200.
