Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE DRAISEY (nee MITCHOSKY) (nee SLOBODZIAN) April 1, 1914 - November 4, 2003 With our deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our dear mom, grandma, and great-grandma at the age of 89 years after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Roger (Shirley) and grandson David; her daughter-in-law Lorraine; and grandsons, Jason (Alyson) and her darling great-granddaughter Lauren. Katherine will also be sadly missed by her dear extended family in the United States, Donna (Ralph) Emerson, Bonnie (Bill) Parker, Edwin (Christine) Draisey, Dick (Janet) Draisey, Bill (Maxine) Draisey, Jerry (Sheejun) Draisey and their children and grandchildren. Also surviving Kay are her sister Edna (Bob) Dorman; her half-sister Natalie (Mike) Dawidowich; her half brother Fred (Mary) Slobodzian; sister-in-law Sophie (Cy) Nimchuk and Helen (Hank) Chura and many nieces and nephews. Katie will also be sadly missed by friends across the continent too numerous to list. Katherine was predeceased by the untimely passing of her son Robert (January, 2003), and her daughter Rita (January, 2000). Kay was predeceased by her first husband John Mitchosky in 1967 and her second husband Bill Draisey in 1995. She was also predeceased by her precious mother Katerana; her father Michael; and her stepmother Rose. Kay was predeceased by her brothers, Andy, Bill, Jack and George; her half sisters, Magdeline, Mary (Bill) Tkatchuk, and Helen (Sam) Atamanchuk. Katies life began in Winnipegosis. Sadly her dear mother died soon after her birth. She cherished her memory all her life, and though her early years were filled with hardship they served to strengthen her character and teach her compassion and love for all. Her heart and her home were always open and never did one leave feeling unwelcome, unloved or hungry. She adored being with her family and friends; nothing meant more to her. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, at 10:00 a.m., in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, with a reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111

I was a little girl in small town Iowa growing up with Kay as my neighbor. She welcomed me into her home, showed me such kindness and adoration and here I am 36 years later still thinking about her. I exchanged a few letters with her when she returned to Canada but sadly I do not still have them. I was hoping to perhaps connect with a family member who could tell me more about Kay and her childhood. I am intrigued by this woman and just the little snippets of memory with her that I have. If there is a family historian that would be willing to reach out please email me. Katielem143@gmail.com - Posted by: Katie Lem (Friend) on: Mar 17, 2025
