DORA MAY GUTKNECHT (nee POTTINGER) December 28, 1937 - November 3, 2003 Peacefully with family at her side May Gutknecht passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. She is survived by one daughter Doloris (Dave) Gutknecht and their daughters, Caroline and Amanda of St. Andrews, MB; three sons, all from Winnipeg. Wayne (Laureen) Gutknecht and their son Dex; Albert (Tracey) Gutknecht and their children, Lynelle (James Kellough), Shannie and Kyle; Brad Gutknecht and his family; one great-grandson Keegan Kellough, born November 5, 2003 in Winnipeg. Mom is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth (Lorne) Roy of Winnipeg; Wilma (Wayne) Hodgson of Grande Prairie, AB; three brothers, Jerry (Bernice) Pottinger of Winnipeg, John Marvin (Lorraine) Pottinger of Winnipeg, Neil (Hanna) Pottinger of Calgary, AB. Mom had many friends and other relatives who will miss her dearly. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Dora (Chartrand) Pottinger; brothers, Leon, Everett and Lorne; and Dad. Mom was born in Eriksdale, MB. She married Henry Gutknecht in 1957 and they moved to Kitimat, BC then lived in Terrace, BC. In 1973 Mom moved back to Manitoba living in Winnipeg with her four children. She enjoyed Bingo, sewing, knitting crocheting, canning, making perogies and bannock, but she especially enjoyed a good joke. Mom had a big heart and helped many people in her life. She lived life without hesitation or worry assured that if today was rough tomorrow would be better. Mom had a great sense of humour which helped her and others to overcome many obstacles in her life. She made it easy for people to care and comfort her while she struggled with her health. Mom loved all her grandchildren dearly and felt they were one of lifes greatest treasures. She knew she was going to be a great Nana but did not have the pleasure of meeting Keegan. We would like to thank all who cared for Mom during her stay at the Seven Oaks Hospital. You were like family to her. Cremation has occurred and no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation, 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, MB R2V 3M3. Her journeys Just Begun Dont think of her as gone away... Her journeys just begun; Life holds so many facets... This earth is only one. Just think of her as resting From the sorrows and the tears, In a place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days and years, Think how she must be wishing That we would know today, How nothing but our sadness Can really pass away. And think of her as living In the hearts of those she touched... For nothing loved is ever lost... And she was loved so much. Im going to miss you Mom...
