BARBARA ANN HANSLIP (nee WALLACE) Peacefully with her family by her side, Barbara Hanslip passed away at the Womens Pavilion at the age of 56. Barb was born in Winnipeg and raised in Oak Lake, MB, later moving to Brandon to attend Business College. Following graduation she moved to Winnipeg, where she was employed by Manitoba Telephone Systems, taking time out to raise her family, later returning to MTS where she worked until the present. Barb loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. She enjoyed many interests including crafts, flower arranging, working in the yard, card games, golfing and many other sports, especially when her sons participated. She loved music and would often join in on the piano. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Darren and Allan (Miki) granddaughter Katie; brother Larry (Sandra) nephews, Tod (Penny), Travis (Terry), and their children of Oak Lake. Aunt Hannah Preston, Aunt Belle Babcock and Uncle George Henderson and cousins. Sisters-in-law, Ann (Arnold), Laura (Bud), Ruby (Glen), Edith (Sam), Pat and Eleanor. Brothers-in-law, Jim (Gloria), Bill (Flo), and Gordon, as well as many nieces, nephews and so many great friends. Barb was predeceased by her beloved husband Doug Hanslip, parents, Nelson and Betty Wallace. Her father and mother-in-law Albert and Delia Hanslip, sister-in-law Dorien Anderson, brothers-in-law, John "Porky" Hanslip and David Lindell; nephews, Jim and Curtis; and niece Jessica. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Doug Larson, Larry Larson, Daryl Andrews, Kerry Hanslip, Travis Wallace and Tod Wallace. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., R3E 9Z9 or a charity of choice. The family wishes to thank the staff on the 5th floor of the Womens Pavilion for their care and kindness. And a special thanks to aunties Ruby Wareham, Laura Andrews, Ann Larson, Edith Hofer and auntie Sandra Wallace of Oak Lake for their many extra hours and special care they gave to Mom. She will always be remembered by her friendly smile and warm personality. "When family ties are broken And loved ones have to part, It leaves a wound that never heals And also a broken heart. We hold you close within our hearts And there you will remain, To walk with us throughout our lives Until we meet again" A viewing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12 at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13 at Glen Eden Funeral Home. An interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens and reception will follow.
