ABRAM LOEWEN Peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2003, at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Abram Loewen went to be with the Lord at the age of 68. Abe, as he was known by friends and family, is survived by his first wife, Florence Loewen; and children, Karen Widdicombe (Jeff), Claudette Hennan (Patrick), Bonnie Peers (Sandy), Jeff (Deborah), Helen Luyben (Mark) step-daughter Susan Anthony; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind brothers, Henry (Ann), Jake (Angie), Bill (Elsie) and Pete (Angie) sisters, Mary Kesler (Dave), Sarah Wiebe (George), Eva Janke (Alf) and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Loewen and Hilda Lowen. He was predeceased by eight brothers and one sister. Abe was born in Hague, SK and moved to Manitoba in 1944 where he remained until the late 60s, when he moved to British Columbia, eventually settling down in Penticton. All that knew him will fondly recall his passion for country music. In his younger years Abe made a living as a country and western entertainer and continued to play for family and friends until the time of his passing. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the loving care and support provided by Sarah and George Wiebe and by the Palliative Care Staff. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Springs of Living Water Church, 595 Lagimodiere Blvd., with viewing prior to the service.
