ROY ROBERT MCGREGOR April 1, 1953 - November 7, 2003 Peacefully, after a short courageous battle with cancer, we announce the passing of our HERO, Roy at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 50 years. Remaining to cherish Roys memory are his beloved wife Joyce; daughter Shirley; grandson Jordan; his Mom and Dad, Roy and Glenda McGregor; his brother and best friend Craig (Gail) sisters, Linda Schram (Kevin), Laurell Charski (Wayne) and Kathy Neyedly (Kevin) and Grandma Myrtle Bowman. Roy also leaves a large extended family, his stepsons, Scott (Inga), David (Jenn) Shirleys mother Alma, and her children, Brenda, Kevin, Shelley, Leon, and John; Joyces family; parents, Doris Gardener, Roy (Vicky) Nordal, and her siblings, Roy (Sandy), Betty (Larry), Bernice (Alvin), Brenda (Rod), and Larry (Debbie), numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and of course all the "family" from the John Osborne ANAF (especially Joe). He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ella and Robert McGregor and maternal grandfather, Ed Bowman. Roy will be sadly missed by all at MacDonalds Consolidated (Canada Safeway) where he was a longtime employee and served as both the SEA Rep and Health and Safety Rep. He was also a member of the John Osborne ANAF, where he was always volunteering to help in any way he could. He had many special memories throughout his short life with us, as a cadet with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders where he was introduced to Prince Charles and Princess Anne, the birth of his daughter; bragging rights when his daughter turned ProBoxer at age 18 and the birth of his grandson. Then, his most cherished memory was his wedding day, May 17, 2002. A celebration of Roys life will be held on Tuesday, November 11 in the John Osborne ANAF, 300-1395 Ellice Ave. (Empress and Ellice). The doors will open at 2:30 p.m. Sincere thanks to all of Roys caregivers on GD4 and CancerCare Manitoba and all the family and friends that brought so much laughter into his final days. Special thanks to Dr. Amy, both Kim Ws, Debbie, Dr. Czarkowski, and Craig for all their loving support throughout his illness. We also wish to thank Roys work place for all the support that was given to us. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Roys memory may be made to either CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E OV9 or the John Osborne ANAF, 300-1395 Ellice Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3P2 Building Fund.
