Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNE (LAWRENCE) JAMES SILLIKER On November 8, 2003 at the Concordia Hospital, Lorne (Lawrence) Silliker, our beloved father and grandfather passed away at age 84 years. Lorne was born in Blaine Lake, SK on March 15, 1919. However his family later settled in Brandon, MB where Lorne grew up. In 1939, he married Hilda (Cale) and they made Winnipeg their home. Lorne was predeceased by his wife Hilda in 1991; his brothers, Herman (Isobel), Bob, Dick, sister Vera (Les) and brother-in-law Stan. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Judy (Peter) his son Brad (Maxine) grandchildren, Greg, Mark, Susan, John, Amanda and seven great-grandchildren; also his sisters, Mary (Art), Betty, Mona (Gerry) sisters-in-law, Margret and Leola and brother-in-law Clare. Lorne was enamoured of cars and was a mechanic by trade. He was often consulted by car manufacturers from Detroit and as far away as England on various problems. It was to this profession he returned after having served as a tank driver with the Sherbrook Fusiliers, who landed on the beaches of Normandy in 1944 and pushed their way through France, Holland, Belgium and to Germany in the Second World War. For the eight years preceding his retirement, Dad made the Commissionaires his home, working at the H.S.C. and then at the RCMP Headquarters. He will always be remembered with love and respect by his family. Thanks for the wonderful memories Dad. When Irish eyes are smiling. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Rev. John Holmen officiating. Interment to follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
