Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTA MARTHA DOWHAN (nee WOZNIAK) Peacefully, our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Mom was born November 4, 1908 in Western Ukraine. She arrived in Canada with her family at the age of five, and later married Tom in 1929. They spent 30 years farming in Poplarfield, and raised five children. They retired from the farm and moved to Winnipeg where mom worked at the Winnipeg General Hospital and Town N Country restaurant. Tom was employed by the CNR until his retirement. Mom is survived by her son Michael (Josie) Dowhan, Winnipeg; daughters, Mary (Alan) Jordan, Calgary, Gloria (Wolfgang) Schmid and Alexandra (Bill) Kachur, Winnipeg; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Wozniak, Toronto, Stella (Jack) Carter, Los Angeles; and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Anton and Edith Wozniak; her beloved husband and our father Tom; daughter Olga Sherbok; her brother Nick; sisters, Tekla Wozniak, Mary Sherbok and Nellie Wenglewicz. Prayers will be said on Thursday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, November 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor St., with Rev. Fr. Mikhail Kouts officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Kachur, Wolfgang and Lisa Schmid, Donna and Rob Sherbok, Don and Brent Dowhan, and Andrew Jordan.
