Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD TENNANT 1949 - 2003 The family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Donald George Tennant on November 10, 2003. Dons memory will be cherished by his wife Linda; children, Miles and Mindy; parents, George and Anne; brothers, Gary and Harold (Angie) sister, Geraldine (George) Bazay; mother-in-law, Mildred Leschyson; sister-in-law, Michelle Leschyson; and all his nieces and nephew. Don worked as a Conductor for CN Rail for over 30 years. In addition, he held many positions in the United Transportation Union. He was an Alternate Canadian Legislative Director; Chairperson of the Canadian Legislative Board; Manitoba Provincial Legislative Board; LR for Local 1874 and member of the Action Planning Committee, Occupational Health Centre; Member of Strategic Planning Session for the Occupational Health Centre, Delta Marsh Research Station; Appointed Representative to the Faculty of Social Work - University of Manitoba Agency Advisory Council; Appointment to Board of Directors - Manitoba Federation of Labour Occupational Health Centre; Delegate to Winnipeg Labour Council; Member Manitoba Federation of Labour Workers Compensation Committee; Member Manitoba Federation of Labour Health and Safety Committee; Member Occupational Health Centers Sub-Committee on Public Relations and Education. He was dedicated to all his sisters and brothers from unions and the NDP. Don was a champion for underdogs everywhere. Over the years Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing hockey. Many hours were spent outside at his country getaway, planting and pruning trees, cutting grass and observing the various wildlife. Time spent at home was most enjoyable for him with his family and faithful dog Rudy. His courage and fighting spirit over the past three years, battling cancer should be an inspiration to us all. Life with Don was never boring as his spontaneous spirit kept us all on our toes. The family would like to thank the staff at Health Sciences Center and Cancer Care Manitoba for their kindness and perseverance in his battle for a cure. Viewing will be held on Friday, November 15 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson, officiated by Father Boris Kyba, Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
