IRENE DORIS COOPER (HEMINGTON)
Date of Passing: Nov 09, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE DORIS COOPER (nee HEMINGTON) Mom passed away peacefully November 9, 2003 after a short struggle with cancer. She was the best cook, seamstress, nurse and confidant to both family and friends. Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Ted, in 2000; and her sister Bernice in 2001, she is survived by her younger brother Ted; her four children, Brian (Carol), Barry (Linda), Barbara and Beverley (Mark), as well as four grandsons and one granddaughter. As a lifelong resident of Winnipeg, a Kelvin alumni, V.O.N. volunteer, RCL LA, and champion knitter, she shared her knowledge and skills with any willing student. Their times were spent at the cottage in South Beach Gimli, where many special people took such good care of Mom after Dads passing. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to them all. She raised her family from the one home they occupied for 50 years. Again, it was the incredible neighbours that made the world of difference to Doris. Her "second families" were both a comfort and a lifeline and brought her happiness daily. The family would like to thank the staff on the 5th floor of the Victoria Hospital for the care and support that was given to Mom. There will be a gathering of family and friends, Friday, November 14 between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Home, 156 Marion St. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, R3C 0S6 or the Victoria Hospital, 2340 Pembina Hwy., R3T 9Z9 is requested. P.
