ARTHUR EDWARD ERB (TED) Peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at the age of 89 years at the Victoria General Hospital. Ted will be lovingly remembered by his companion, Elizabeth (Bette) Taylor; his three sons, Gary (Dorothy) of Oak bluff, Douglas (Marilyn) of Oak Bluff, Fred (Lois) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Anne Morrissette (Marcel), Karen Wrixon (Bruce), Randy, Bradley (Louise), Tim (Kristine), Jamie, Derek (Erin), Conrad (Jessica), Michael (Michelle), and seventeen great-grandchildren. Ted also leaves to mourn his brothers, Harold and Lloyd (Isadore) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Hazel of 58 years; infant son Edward; grandson Kelly; sister Rita Loving; brother Frank; sisters-in law, Ethel Erb, Mae Erb and brother-in-law Ray Loving. Ted was born on April 29, 1914 on the family farm at Arnaud, MB. His family moved to Winnipeg where he spent most of his youth. He then moved to Oak Bluff where he began to farm and run a transfer business. It was during this time that he met and married Hazel Hall in 1936. He continued to reside on the family farm in Oak Bluff until two years ago. Ted was a very successful farmer and business man starting the first housing development in Oak Bluff. Hazel and Ted spent many summer weekends at their cottage they had built at Dorothy Lake in the Whiteshell and winters in Arizona and Texas. Ted had a natural talent for music and enjoyed dancing, traveling, curling and golf. He was President of the Pembina Curling Club in 1956/57. Ted and Bette also spent several winters in Texas and for the past two years have lived in the VasaLund Estates in Charleswood. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway at Furby. A family interment will be held at Sanford Cemetery prior to the memorial service. A special thanks to Dr. Hayward and the nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital.
