LAURA VALLIS (nee DAMOUR) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of our dear cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Concordia Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Bill in 1991; parents Elzear and Marie DAmour; sisters, Lillian, Eileen, Elza, Helen; brother Wilfred; mother-in-law Sarah and father-in-law Grant; brother-in-law Edward; sister-in-law Bernice. Mom will be dearly missed by her daughter Valerie (Bob) sons, Bill (Jo-Ann), Bob (Lorraine), Leslie (Marge) and John; her precious grandchildren, Lesley, Lindsay (Kelly), Tracy (Scott), Karen (Jason), Jaclyn, Robbie, Jeffrey, Shawn, Billy; and great-grandchildren, Sam, Tyler, Evan, Noah and Jack. Also surviving are her sisters, Margaret, Yvonne, Madeline; and brothers, Brian, Patrick, Gene, Cecil; sister-in-law Ruby Lidstone; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Prince Albert, SK, on June 19, 1917 and moved to Winnipeg to take up nursing. It was here where she met Bill and they were married in 1942. Mom loved to play Bingo and fish, and thoroughly enjoyed many years of bowling with the Seniors at Roxy Lanes. Bill and Laura had a cottage at Winnipeg Beach where they spent many happy years with family and friends. Mom was a generous caring person who gave of herself and was a genuine source of inner strength to the family. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. N. Allegro, Helen Perry and her staff, plus all the many nurses and staff at Concordia Hospital for their wonderful support, care and compassion for Mom. In lieu of flowers, due to her love and affection for her grand and great-grandchildren, memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 566 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg.
