ANNIE MASSEY (SWERID) 1923 - 2003 It is with deep sadness the family of Annie Massey (Anne) has to announce her peaceful passing on November 13, 2003. Mom was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, Fred in January of 1979; her loving grandson Jeffrey Pattle on November 12, 2003; and sisters, Mary and Pauline. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Melody and son-in-law Charles Pattle of Winnipeg; granddaughter Jerilyn and friend Robert Li; daughter Holly and son-in-law Mervin Sachvie of Beausejour; granddaughter Jolene and husband Geoff Inkster and son Austin; grandson Derek and friend Shay Appleton. She will be sadly missed by her favourite pup Nikki. She is survived by brothers, Nick (Olga) of Saskatoon, SK, Walter (Shirley) of Stoney Creek, ON, Alex of Battleford, SK, George (Margaret) of Winnipeg; sister Tina (Gerald) of Vernon, BC; and dear brother-in-law Rusty Gratton of Stoney Creek and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom will be missed by the members of St. Marks Lutheran Church, her friends at Victoria Community Club, and the Birthday Girls. Mom was born November 1, 1923 in Regina, SK. Her most important commitment was her family. She was never too busy to help us with anything we needed. She loved when we were all together for family fun. Her love and devotion moulded us into who we are today. Her grandchildren kept her young at heart. She was always busy and it wasnt uncommon for her to be baking late into the evening. We often wonder how she kept going and going as we called her the Energizer Bunny. She always said you were never too old to learn. Mom had been a student of the Adult School for the past few years attempting to improve her reading and writing skills. She enjoyed learning and her education was often a family effort by helping with homework. She attended her first computer class but unfortunately was unable to finish due to her illness. Mom enjoyed spending time with her neighbours. They were like extended family and were always available for help or support when she needed. We know how much they will miss her. The family would like to thank Dr. Pintin and the staff of the 4th Floor at the Victoria Hospital for their care and support over the past few weeks. Service will be held on Monday November 17 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Nick Sweird, Walter Sweird, Raymond Massey, Glen Massey, Harold Schwab, and Don Spitzer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Anne Massey to CancerCare Manitoba, Manitoba Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, 675 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Mom, Jeff took your hand and you both can spend time with Dad - until we all meet again. We love you much too much, too much.
