DONALD ROBERT COURTLAND August 21, 1940 - November 11, 2003 Peacefully on November 11, 2003 our loving father, grandfather, relative and friend Donald Courtland passed away at Johnson Memorial Hospital, in Gimli, MB. Donald was born on August 21, 1940 in Winnipeg, MB. He was predecesed by his father and mother, Les and Phyllis Courtland (nee Overton). Surviving him are his two daughters, Crystal and Coralea (Trevor) and their mother June. With great happiness Donald was able to meet his first grandchild Sydney. Don started his career as an optician with Eatons and carried it through to Stewart N. King. He then started working for the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission and was employed with them until his passing. Don had an amazing zest for life. With his courage and unbelievable strength he has been a true survivor. He had undergone a double lung transplant coming on seven years January, 2004 and with a short go of cancer, he was still willing to keep going strong. Don loved nature. Many of his hobbies were outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish. His indoor hobbies were bowling and his love of all sports. He also had a kind and giving heart towards animals, especially his Duchess of Matlock. Many thanks go out to the respiratory team at Health Sciences Centre as well as CancerCare Manitoba. Thank you as well to the team at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, MB and to the bunch of great home care ladies. Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at St. Matthews Anglican Church, Maryland and St. Matthews, on Wednesday, November 19 at 4:30 p.m. Donations can be made in honour of Donald to the Winnipeg Humane Society at 5 Kent Rd. in Winnipeg.
