He is survived by his only daughter, Barbara (Bill McMillan) of Brandon, M.B.; his granddaughter Stacey (Murray Haggerty) of Steinbach, M.B.; his grandson Tyler McMillan; (special friend Allison Mott) of Winnipeg; his nieces, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Susan; and nephew Tom, (all of Ontario) and his little delight Caitlin Haggerty his great-granddaughter; and his special pet of 24 years "Boots". George was born on October 20, 1926, in Chatham, Ontario. He received his education there and developed a love of music and sports. During the war he served in the Army. After his war time service he returned to Chatham and married the love of his life Aimee Marcelle Frances Beaumont on October 19, 1946. A year later Barbara was born. George then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and became Bandsman for a number of years. He spent the balance of his Service years as a military steward working in C.A.N.E.X. and achieving the rank of Sargeant before retiring after 26 years of peace time service. Aimee and George chose Winnipeg to make their home and during this time George worked for Duracell Battery and lastly for G+S Distributing before retiring at 65 years of age. He never lost his love for music and played with many groups around Winnipeg namely GIGI and the Westwood Orchestra. George didnt play much fast ball as he grew older but he still was able to Golf. He used to love to tell us about his golf games with his friends at the Warren Golf Course. He also had many good times with his "Breakfast Buddies". We hope dad will be remembered for his joking and as a good friend and neighbour. He was our strong family influence and we shall miss him terribly. The family would like to express thanks to MICU Health Sciences Centre and to the Winnipeg Ambulance Service for doing everything they could to ease Dads final hours.
