ONOFRIO MANDARANO It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Onofrio on October 27, 2003, in Lipari, Sicily. He is survived by his beloved wife Nunziata; sons, Bart (Virginia), Mike (Rosina), Larry (Valerie) daughters, Graziella (Melo) of Italy and Connie (Daniele) of Vancouver, BC. He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous relatives and friends in Italy and Canada. Onofrio was born in Lipari, Sicily, on January 10, 1917. There he met and married his wife of 62 years, Nunziata. He worked hard in the Pumice Mines until 1965 when he relocated his family to Canada. He worked in construction until his retirement in 1987. He then returned to his home land of Lipari where he enjoyed gardening and spending time with Nunziata whom he deeply cherished. Family was the centre of his life, and he enjoyed every moment that could be spent together. Fortunately he was able to travel between Canada and Italy several times in his life. Onofrio was a courageous man who loved life and will forever be missed by all who knew him. It gives the family great comfort in knowing that his final wish of seeing all his children one last time was able to be fulfilled. There will be a mass in his memory on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Riposa in Pace, Papa
