DOREEN MARGARET McGOWAN (nee WILLSON) Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Doreen passed away on November 13, 2003 at the Riverview Health Centre. Doreen is lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend William (Bill) daughter Margo (Roland) son Ross (Jackie) and cherished grandchildren, Heather, Ian and Sara. Mom was a caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put the interests of her family before herself. Her usual refrain of "how lucky she was" exemplified her humble and thoughtful approach to life and it was us who where lucky to have her. As a wife Doreens love for Bill was obvious and total. As a mother, she nurtured her children to be themselves and her legacy lives on in her much loved grandchildren whose hugs and smiles meant the world to her. Doreen enjoyed bridge with the girls, water-colours and needlepoint, shopping with her great friend Toots, bonfires on the beach, theatre night and the quiet warmth of her many friends. She particularly loved family times and celebrations which left her feeling proud of those closest to her and the importance of family in her life. Mom will be lovingly remembered for the knitted sweaters, pineapple desert, the best gravy in the world and her wit and inner strength. Mom, you will be forever remembered and always missed. The family would like thank the staff at Victoria Hospital and especially Riverview Health Care Centre for their tender care and kindness during this time. At Moms request, a private family service will be held on Wednesday, November 19. Friends are invited to celebrate Doreens life on Wednesday, November 19 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. at 725 South Drive. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Victoria Hospital Foundation or The Riverview Health Care Centre Foundation is appreciated.
