LOIS COUGHLIN (nee PICARD) Peacefully, with her family at her side, on Saturday, November 15, 2003, Lois Coughlin left this earth to be reunited with God and with loved ones that went before her. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who will be greatly missed. Mom was born September 9, 1917 to the late Dr. Joseph and Florence Picard. She was predeceased by her brother Lloyd in 1992. She leaves to mourn her husband Cy; daughters, Lee Downey (Dale), Carol Bordass (Wilson), Joan Lytwyn (Steve) grandchildren, Tim Downey (Angelle), Chris Downey (Melanie), Janelle Bordass, Amber Bordass, Shawn Lytwyn; great-granddaughter Mia Downey; nieces, Dianne Pike and Lois April; plus many close and wonderful friends. Mom received her education at St. Marys Academy and St. Marys College. She was a lifelong member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After school, Mom worked at Great West Life Assurance Company. She married Cy in 1943. After the war, they returned to Winnipeg and raised their family. Once we were in school, Mom returned to work as the secretary for St. John Brebeuf School and Parish. After many years there, Mom went to work with Dad in the family trucking business. After their retirement, they enjoyed the next 20 years being snowbirds in the winter and spending summers at Southwood Golf and Country Club and at the kids cottages. In more recent years, when the golf slowed down, there was bridge with friends, and there were always great get togethers with family and friends. On March 9, 2003, Mom and Dad gathered with family and friends to celebrate 60 years of a truly blessed marriage. A celebration of Moms life will be held on Thursday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Catholic Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would please Mom very much. Special thanks to the staff on the 5th floor and ICU at Victoria General Hospital.
