Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA VINETTA (McRae) HAY Edna died on Friday afternoon, November 14, 2003, with her daughter, Heather, by her side. Edna was a determined, courageous and compassionate woman, with a vibrant sense of humour and a zest for life. Edna was born in Lawson, SK on August 7, 1914, and grew up in the Silver Stream district near Tisdale, SK. She moved to Flin Flon in 1940, where she met and married Donald Hay on September 19, 1942. They lived there together for almost 50 years. Edna was a dedicated citizen of Flin Flon. She was a Life Member of the Womens Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church and organist for St. Andrews Church for many years. She was a Life Member of the Ross Lake Ladies Curling Club and a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Flin Flon. Her first love was her family, which included many foster children that Edna and Don welcomed into their home over the years. She also loved animals and especially Siamese cats, the last being her faithful friend Blue, who lived with her at Golden West. For the past nine years Edna resided at Golden West Centennial Lodge where she was an integral member of the community. She enjoyed participating in poetry corner and carpet bowling. Her Christian faith was nurtured and supported in this environment and she had many friends there, both staff and residents. The family would like to acknowledge with appreciation, the care and love Edna received while at Golden West Centennial Lodge. Edna is survived by her son D. George Hay of Ottawa, (Helene Buteau) daughter Heather Robbins of Birtle (Don Robbins) and daughter Mary Louise Sidic (Vic Sidic) of Flin Flon. She also leaves to mourn her passing, nine grand-children, Scott Hay, Laura Maio (Antonio and soon to be born great-grandchild), Sean Hay (Sheila Ryan), Joy Hay, Jason Robbins (Kristen Robbins and Aela, first great-grandchild), Brenda Robbins (Linda Dame), Lisa Robbins (Dave Parker), Lisa Anne Sidic and Michael Sidic. Edna was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Sarah McRae; her husband Donald Hay; an infant sister Alta Jean; brother George McRae and sister-in-law, Mary McRae and daughter-in-law Joan Hay. A memorial service will be held at Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Road, on Wednesday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. with interment of ashes to be held at a later date in Flin Flon, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba, the Presbyterian Church of Canada - World Service and Development, or to Golden West Centennial Lodge.
